The Baltimore Community ToolBank thrives on volunteerism. As a small staff, we welcome volunteers to join us in serving our partners. In any given year, 1,000 – 1,500 unique volunteers help perform all manner of tasks. From inventory maintenance and organization, warehouse efficiency projects, environmental work in our stormwater factory, rain gardens, and building floating wetlands, we are stronger when others join us!
At this time, we welcome group project volunteers only, no individuals. You can read more about our logic at the bottom of this page.
Below, you’ll find a list of projects we regularly host on-site with volunteer groups. *Depending on the season, some projects may not be available*

More about why we are not currently engaging individual volunteers: Our work changes daily, tasks are irregular and our schedule is confined to the working day. While volunteers help us immensely, it takes staff time to plan and manage them. Candidly, individual volunteers rarely meet a threshold of hours high enough to make special management of them worthwhile for the ToolBank. We know this from over 15 years of staff experience in volunteer management. If we had the type of work that repeated daily, it would be much easier to engage individuals. As we do not, we are not currently accepting individual volunteers.
